I looked at the list of Airmen that died on the Halifax 11W1002 on the 10th December 1942, and was very confused, as they all couldn't have flown, crashed and reflown the plane, and there wouldn't have been a plane big enough in those days!! So as I obviously don't know the reasoning for this, I wondered if anyone can explain it please. Also it states that he was in 138 Squadron, as well.

Also, of course I would like to know more about how Emlyn died, it that is at all possible.
Please forgive my ignorance, but if you don't ask, you don't get, to repeat an often used phrase.

Took off from LG.224 for Malta, but never arrived. The aircraft presumably came down in the Mediterranean, possibly as a result of a night fighter attack. The all-Czech crew and the passengers, including 5 tour-expired bomber crew, are commemorated on the Alamein Memorial.

Thank you so much Col Bruggy, I do appreciate your explanation, although I couldn't see Emlyn DAVIES's name on the List of W1002 before I wrote to you, perhaps a senior moment on my part! Can I ask another question please, was Emlyn 's tour not finished as he has no ex-40 Sqn next to his name. Sgt J A Tovey (ex-40 Sqn) was the only other 40 Sqn on the flight. If you have a look at the corrections and additional information, you will see that F/Sgt E B Davies is mentioned as ex-40 Sqn. I have no idea as to whether he completed his tour, or otherwise.
