    Default Hurricane Loss

    Salut Alain

I have two sources that say the aircraft was with No. 85 (F) Squadron at the time of loss.
They both note that the Hurricane Mk. I was abandoned in Belgium after a forced landing on the 5th of May 1940.

    Sources:
Air Britain's Royal Air Force Aircraft N1000 to N9999
The Hawker Hurricane 'The Royal Air Force Museum Edition' by Francis K. Mason

    Default Supplemental Loss Gen

    Salut Alain

I just checked Norman L. Frank's Royal Air Force Fighter Command Losses of the Second World War (Volume 1) and he has the following.

Hurricane Mk. I s/n N2472, was lost on the 10th of May 1940 while being flown by Flying Officer A. B. Angus of No. 501 (F) Squadron. Angus was carrying out a patrol when he encountered a Luftwaffe Ju-88 over the Celles-Ednacaf area. He abandoned the aircraft.

Franks makes a notation about him on the 16th of May 1940. When you go to that date, it shows Angus being killed in action while a member of No. 85 (F) Squadron. He was shot down in Hurricane Mk. I s/n L 1641 by a pilot of JG27 southwest of Lille.

This loss is recorded in both Air Britain and Mason's books

    Cheers...Chris
