Default Spitfire Vc - Sounds & Start-up Procedure

Just some questions about sounds a Spit pilot would hear.

    (a) what did a Spitfire pilot hear when the airplane was idling on the ground just before take-off? Was it a dull roar, screaming engine, quiet like on a modern airliner .?
    (b) same question, except when in flight?
    (c) what did a pilot hear/feel when the cannons were fired?
    (d) is there a simple, step-by-step description of the engine start procedure for a Spitfire Vc? How long would it take to - from cold start to propeller turning - to start a Spitfire engine?

    Thank in advance. Really appreciate.

Thanks to modern technolgy and youtube, many of your questions can be answered. Plenty of 'from the cockpit' videos to experience the sight and sound of a Spitfire. Here's one for the Spitfire IX, probably same sound and proceedure. Enjoy it, I did.
