Default Spitfire Crash, RAF Marham June 20th 1942

    Hi,

Long shot here. Trying to ID the squadron and the serial of a Spitfire from RAF Cotishall that crash landed at Marham on the above date. The pilot was I believe a F/Sgt Jackson.

    Any help appreciated.

    Update,

    I now know it was a 610 Squadron Spitfire Mk.Vb flown by a F/Sgt W.M Jackson.

I would like to learn the ID of the Spitfire and the full name of the pilot?

    Any takers

    Regards

    Steve

    Steve,

    Incidental Info:

Spitfire Mk. Vb W3604 "BLACK IMP"

On 16 November (1941), it was transferred to No.610 (County of Chester)Sqn at Leconfield to fly convoy patrols. On 22 December W3604 drifted when landing in a slight crosswind at dusk, the undercarriage collapsing as it swung off the runway. Sgt W. M. Jackson was unhurt, but W3604 was declared Category Ac damaged and sent to No.1 Civilian Repair Unit at Cowley.
