    Default Westland Wapiti '503'

I ran into this interesting photo of Wapiti 503

    http://silverhawkauthor.com/images/s...tiveNumber.jpg

    Original page http://silverhawkauthor.com/canadian...apiti_702.html
Caption says : (RAF Photo) Westland Wapiti Mk. IIA floatplane, RAF (Serial No. 503).

If you look closely the tail rudder an fuselage serials were obviously modified from J908?

Going by Air Britain J Serials, this might be J9084 - "Fitted with Short Bros Floats Cont 802348/27 (472hp Jupiter VIFT) MKRS, MAEE etc to AD Drigh Road, 60 Sqn, returned to UK FL near Hadleigh 17.11.33

(the only Floatplane reference i could find in these possibilities).

But now - why is it painted 503?

Certainly not an RCAF number going by Bill Walker's site.

    Hi Jagan,

Look at the aircraft. The shadow is the same one in the all photos...

    Jagan,

The whole image has the look of being retouched. Too sharp in a number of places like the water rudder outline and the pilot's head... if he was ever there at all, which the database photo suggests he was not.

Perhaps someone trying to create an RCAF aircraft for some purpose.

Ah.. Good Catch Mojmir..... so a heavily "Photo Shopped by hand" photo..... .. .makes sense!

Pilot and Prop are quite dodgy!

On the first photo you put up you can actually just see the "4" on the leading rudder stripe, just touching the edge of the stripe.
