    Default PAMELA 75 Sqd 1940

P/O Williams pilot in Wellington R3168 on 11.06.1940 To PAMELA 6 hours 20 min day
P/O Williams pilot in Wellington R3168 on 13.06.1940 PAMELA to base 6 hours day

The ORBs do not explain this reference Pamela has anyone any thoughts a 6 hour flight in a Wellington is a significant distance. It does not appear to relate to early ops Italy from what I can see. These details are direct from a log book....
    Thank you.

    Hello Colin,

'Pamela' was the RAF codename for Salon airfield in southern France. This information is from AIR 35/63 at TNA. This file is a list of all B.A.F.F. airfield and landing grounds in France, in use or those that could be used. The edition in TNA is dated 20 May 1940.

    Regards,

    Martin Gleeson.

Colin, I have a partial ORB for that period. On 13 Jun 40 PO Williams in R. 3168 was supposed to attack G9, his Raid Serial No. was KCB. 424. Targets that night were G.6 and G.9. The ORB pages I have don't identify the targets, but the following in regard to R. 3168: "KCB.424 failed to locate target due to 10/10 cloud at 1000 ft. Attacked dock area at BOULOGNE after search, in shallow dive to 6,000 ft, dropping all bombs. Hits observed and big explosion seen to occur." Perhaps 1000 ft should read 10,000 ft. Times up an down are given as 22.05 and 02.10. There is further weather info in the target areas if you are interested. Regards, Terry
