The ORB (AIR 28/442) for 10 ASRMCU, Torry, Aberdeen, makes reference to HSL 126 being sent out at 04:10 on 26 January 1944 to 56 53N 01 09W to look for a Halifax with 8 crew. This was in the middle of a minefield off the north-east coast of Scotland and the sortie was abandoned at 05:02. It does not say why this was (e.g. because the crew had been rescued by another unit). I cannot find any matching Halifax loss for this date, certainly not in Chorley/RAF Bomber Command Losses, nor can I see fatalities on the CWGC website which match. Please does anyone have any suggestions?
