    Default 1340 Flight ORB?

Does anyone know if 1340 Flight RAF, when operating in Kenya during the Mau Mau campaign during the 1950s, compiled an ORB please, and if so, does anyone possess a digital copy of it?

    Many thanks

    Jonny, Hi,
An element of one of the Lincoln Sqns - then based at Wittering - was detached to Kenya on 'quelling' duties. Can't remember which one, but I had (as a newly appointed Scientific Assistant) just come back from Met Training School. So, when the airframes were changing over, it was the task of the junior Asst to stay 'on duty' in the Met Off at Wittering until the departing Lincoln(s) had reached the PNR on their way to refuel at Luqa.
There might be something the Sqn ORB?

61 and 100 Sqns had Lincolns at Wittering and were prob the sqns involved in anti-Mau Mau dets/Ops.

One to ponder, but I am still after the 1340 Flt ORB. Nothing comes up on a search of the NA online. A gentleman in Kenya wishes to research various a/c losses and their locations.

    Can anyone else assist please?

    Cheers

    Hello,

    Does this help?

Good coverage given to the Mau Mau emergency (including Orbat, ops/losses of 1340 Flt & Lincoln units [6]), in the following publication:

High Stakes - Britain's Air Arms In Action 1945-1990.
    Flintham,Vic.
    Barnsley:Pen & Sword Aviation,2009 (Chapter 3, Section 4, Kenya 1952-56).

Great stuff. Very many thanks, Col. When the restrictions finally lift and sun comes out again, I feel a visit coming on.

    All the best
