Default Barracuda III loss, Thorney Island, September 6th 1945

    Hello

In the book 'Carrier Observer' by Gordon Wallace, there's an account of a crash involving him and pilot 'Gus' Halliday [Roy William 'Gus' Halliday DSC?] after an engine fire on return to Thorney Island. There's also a photo of the very bent Barracuda, which cartwheeled through the water, fortunately without serious injury to either crew member.

I've had a look at FAA Aircraft 1939-1945 by Ray Sturtivant, and can't find a corresponding loss. Can anyone help ID the Barracuda involved?

    Many thanks
