    Default Airmen war graves - Co. Antrim

    Could anyone tell me the details of crash / deaths of the following airmen, interred in St. Catherines, Killead Co. Antrim.

    shields s 343617 corporal raf 27 07 1921

    hallam ronald willis 621765 leading acm 11 06 1940
    page norman leslie 740200 sgt pilot 11 06 1940

    coles peter ernest 1389953 leading acm Obs. u/t 31 10 1941

    davie colin w. hebron 1387344 sgt pilot 09 11 1942
    endersby cyril sydney 1206257 sgt w/op - gnr 09 11 1942
    jones thomas sidney 635894 leading acm Nav. u/t 09 11 1942
    nield cyril henry 1579238 leading acm Nav. u/t 09 11 1942

    This suggests

    Operator: RAF 3 Bombing & Gunnery School
    Registration: L3308

    Fatalities: Fatalities: 2 / Occupants: 2
    Airplane damage: Written off (damaged beyond repair)
    Location: Eglinton, Derry

    For 9/11/42 can suggest Anson AX322 of 1 AOS which crashed 4m NW Moneymore, Tyrone

    and for 31/10/41 Blenheim Z6273 of 5 AOS at Tildarg, Ballymena, Antrim

    For L3308 I've PAGE and HALLAM.
    For Z6273 besides COLES also: Sgt (Pilot) W.A.S. DOIG - 993229 * LAC (Obs u/t) I.J. URWIN - 1087876 * LAC (Obs u/t) R.D. CONNELL - 1074966.
    For AX322 besides the four names mentioned also LAC (Nav u/t) A.J. BAXTER - 1392607.

    one thing you can do is pop off a mesasge to the RAF Museum

    Give them the aircraft serials and dates and ask for the Form 1180 for them. That will confirm pilots names at least.

    If you could contact a relative of some of them, they might be able to request information from the RAF Air Historical Branch.

    Hi everyone, just to update , hallam + page 3 B+GS Unit formed at aldergrove 1st Dec 1939, stayed until disbanded 11th Jul 1940. details of aircraft found in book " action stations " as Henley mk 3, this information fits as both war graves are close to aldergrove.

    Coles - 5 AOS formed at jurby, isle of man - on 18th sep 1939, reformed 1st dec 1939 as 5 B+GS reformed 19th jul 1941 as 5 AOS, unit seems to have stayed here during war, i got this one covered, i got a contact on the island my brother lives there.

    davie-endersby-jones-nield ; 1 AOS reformed at wigtown on 1st feb 1942 as 1 (O) AFU disbanded 12th nov 1945 at wigtown.

    also thanks Dennis, i will send for 1180 forms, just to confirm details.
