Default 19090 Wg Cdr Geoffrey John Comyn MAHONY (GDB)

    Hi all

I have a bit of a mystery man, who seems to have fallen of the face of the earth. Well, I can't find anything, anyway... :-(

This man was born in Marysboro, Cork, 21 Nov 1901, and granted a Short Service Commission on 31 Mar 25. He did his ab initio with 41 Sqn (Plt Off, 1 Oct 25; Fg Off, 30 Nov 26) and was posted to 601 Sqn as Assistant Adjutant on 15 Jul 27, and then to 603 Sqn on 9 Oct 29. He transferred to RAFO Class A, 31 Mar 30, granted an exemption from annual training in 1931, and then transferred to RAFO Class C on taking up residence in Egypt for ‘Air Taxi work’ on in 1932. He relinquished his commission on completion of service in 1934, but was re-appointed to a commission in RAFO Class A on 6 Feb 36: Promoted to Flt Lt 1 Apr 37, Sqn Ldr 14 Jan 41 and Temp Wg Cdr 1 Jun 42, he relinquished his commission on 10 Feb 54, retaining Wg Cdr. Then he disappears.

Try as I might, I can not locate any more details on the man, including his postings 1937-54, marriage and death. There is nothing (relevant) in Google, nothing in the usual repositories, including wartime AFLs, TNA catalogue, RAF Museum online databases, LG, this forum, free BMD, LDS Family Search, Irish and Scottish BMDs, and all my other go-to sources - just nothing. I even tried the National Australian Archives and Trove sites. He has just 'disappeared'.

Does anyone have any record or access to other databases (perhaps from other countries) with any information on this man please, whether postings, marriage, issue, death?

Many thanks for any assistance you may be able to provide.

    Thanks
    Steve
