    Default Captured Blohm Voss 138

This if a follow up question to my last post re Sqd Lrd Frank Squire. He flew the captured Blohm Voss 138 from Helensburgh to Felixstowe at the end of the war. I understand it was allocated serial number VK895. Any information appreciated to complete my profile of Squire and does a picture of this aircraft exist?

    From "War Prizes" .

    VK895.
AM S-2 Blohm under Voss Bv 138B-1 W Nr unknown.
This aircraft was coded "B", was flown from Kastrup-See to Kiel on 16th June 1945 and made a local test flight from Kiel on the same day.
On 19th June it flew from Kiel to Enkhuizen on the Zuider-Zee, where it made an unscheduled landing to pick up water supplies, flying onwards to Calshot on the 5th July prior to departing to MAEE Helensburgh on the 7th July. All its flights up to 5th July had been made by G/Capt. Hards. The'138 was allocated the RAF serial number VK895 on 26th July. The MAEE returned to its pre-war base at Felixstowe's on the 1st August 1945. VK895 was on MAEE strength at Felixstowe's on 28th February 1946, but by 1st June 1946 was awaiting disposal due to lack of resources to maintain it. When observed in October 1946, it still wore both "Air Min S-2" and VK895. It was still present in May 1947 and was SoC on 3rd January 1948. This aircraft must be AM 69 or AM71.

From 'War Prizes - The Album' by Phil Butler. If you find you can't copy it, I'll send it as email attachment.

Squire took a Luftwaffe mechanic with him and flew across land incase of a breakdown, or damage from friendly fire as the war was not officially declared over.
