    Default Bohuslav Kovarik

Found during clearing my basement and posted for general knowledge. Do not know when it was approved.

KOVARIK, Bohuslav, Flight Sergeant (Czechoslovak Air Force) - No.68 Squadron - Distinguished Flying Medal - date uncertain. The following from Christie’s Auction Catalogue, 14 March 1985, quoting “Air Ministry Records”: "Prior to posting to No.68 Squadron, this airman participated in 31 sorties as air gunner with a bomber squadron. While serving his present squadron, Flight Sergeant Kovarik has displayed great skill in engaging enemy aircraft and has been mainly responsible for the destruction of three enemy bombers and the probable destruction of two more."

    Hugh,

Our Pavel Vencata, should be able to add a lot more to my meagre effort.

    Hello,
I have not been able to find his date of death nor, surprisingly, any published obituary. Any ideas?

    Hi,

In 1949, his marriage ended in divorced as they were childless. For a while he worked as a barman, mixing drinks in one of the London bars and later set up a business selling domestic electrical appliances. He died in Spain of a heart attack in summer 1969 whilst on holiday. The location of his grave is not known.
