    Hi Dave,

from the F.78 for V5894. It was Taken On Charge by 248 Squadron on 26-2-1941. After that the next entry is '43 Grp. DA 24-4-1941'. Nothing on page 2 that might indicate damage during this period.

    Regards,

    Martin Gleeson.

    Hi Dave:

    From AIR81 Search:

AIR81/6045 Sergeant C H Lancashire: injured; Pilot Officer R R Wright, Sergeant E L Watts: uninjured; aircraft crashed on return from operational flight, Blenheim V5894, 246 Squadron, 23 April 1941.

Possible squadron number error somewhere, 246 vs 248?

    Hi Martin /Robert,

Thanks for your imput. Rather oddly there is no mention of this incident in the 248 Sqn ORB for 23 or 24thApril 1941. The latter states that the aircraft V5894 with P/O Wright, Sgt Watts and Sgt Lancashire was up at 18:15 on convoy escort and down at 23:00 hours with nothing to report. I think I`ll need that casualty file for Sgt Lancashire, but unless there are any volunteers to help I`ll have no chance of getting hold of it soon. At least there are two sources for it being involved in some sort of accident. Hope you are both well and coping during these troubled times. Regards. Dave.

    Hi Dave:

    No problem.

So gather the 246 Sqn ref in the AIR81 entry is incorrect.

All good here thanks - hope you and yours are doing well.

Aye, Definately 248 Sqn. 246 didn`t have Blenheims, and in any case they didn`t reform until Sept 42 when they had Sunderlands. So just a slip of the digit on the AIR81 file.

    All OK here Robert.

    Regards
    Dave.
