Hello,
There has been some confusion it seems about an airman of 260 Sqdn and Lancaster R5640.
There was a crewman of R5640 named Clark.
This was Sgt. Harold Frederick Power Clark, 1166730 RAFVR.
and was an 83 Sqdn airman.
He along with the rest of R5640's crew were killed on the 9th June 1942.
He had nothing to do with the Clark of 260 Sqdn.
The 260 Sqdn airman named Clark was -
Sgt. Harold Clark, 1266027 - RAFVR.
Killed on the 9th June 1942.
He was the son of Albert and Sarah Jane Clark, of Hull.
He is remembered on the Alamein Memorial, Egypt.
HMAW vol 2 page 136, has -
260 Sqn Kittyhawk I shot down by fighters at El Adem c0900; pilot unidentified, but Wia.
260 Sqn Kittyhawk I shot down by fighters at El Adem c0900 ; pilot Sgt. H, Clark Mia.
The only reference to a Kittyhawk serial number for this date that I came accross was AL134, but it could refer to either pilot ?
AL134 - 260 - Soc as lost 7.9.42; NFD .
So could be the wounded pilots a/c on the 9th June 42
Which still leaves Clark's a/c serial as yet unknown ?
Alex
