Default A/S/Ldr Percy Reynolds 66577 DFC

    Hi,

The above officer assumed command of 'A' Flight, No.186 squadron on October 11th 1944.

I have been told that he was badly burnt in a crash in 1942/1943 however I have not been able to establish with what squadron. I am hoping someone might have chanced upon this pilot during their research.

    Any pointers welcome.

The No. 101 Squadron ORB notes the arrival of P/O Reynolds from No. 20 OTU in July 1941. No service number given.

For the incident on 30 August: "This aircraft crashed just after takeoff two miles N.E. of Oakington and burnt out. One of the crew killed, three severely injured and one slightly injured.

    Target given as Cherbourg.

    Regards,

    Dave

    Hello,

I can see how Bill Chorley has got a bit confused with P/O Reynold's "Hamburg" op on 30/31 August 1941. P/O Reynolds was involved in an incident on 2/3 August 1941, which was an op to Hamburg. Reynolds was a 2nd Dicky on this trip:

    2-3 Aug 1941
    101 Sqn
    Wellington Ic R1088:SR-T
    Op: Hamburg

T/o 2234 Oakington. Crash-landed 0523 at Rodgerous Field, Park Farm, Brabourne, 6 miles ESE of Ashford, Kent. The bomber caught fire, but the crew were uninjured.

    P/O Bundey
    P/O Reynolds
    Sgt Lewis
    Sgt Hayter
    Sgt France
    Sgt Thompson

I have some of the details of this crew, if anyone would like to add more, you're welcome.

    See:BCL2/107
