    Default Independent Flights 1941-1945

My late father as W/Op transferred in 1941 to RAF Abbotsinch flying as Station Flight, later becoming 1680 (Western Communication) Flight, later becoming 1680 (Transport) Flight. Although independent would the Flight ultimately be under the control of a Command i.e. Transport?

Probably under the general command of the Station Commander (for general administration and discipline) but likely to have been included also under Group and Command for more general matters, and policy. Just a feeling really, so other considered opinions welcome.
