I have recently been looking at the Operations Record Books and Combat Reports for 54 Squadron in July 1940 at the start of the Battle of Britain. These "Dunkirk Warriors" flew the most sorties of any Squadron at this time and I have written an article on their experiences:

I have a particular interest in 54 Squadron as my uncle, Gordon Herbert Batchelor, served with them from October 1940. He was shot down over France on July 9th 1941 and died as a prisoner of war in Hamburg on April 15th 1941.

Best wishes,
Jude
