Default Baled out, 16 OTU (Upper Heyford) 7 June 1944

I'm working my way through scans of a logbook and I found an entry I didn't expect.

7 June 1944 - 16 OTU aircraft "W" serial 285, pilot was F/Sgt Molloy on a Cross Country flight (3 hours 10 mins), crew baled out over Newtown/Wales at 01:45 hours after "engines cut".

Can anybody identify the serial please.
    thanks PeteS

No crew listed in Chorley - So we now have a code 'W' and maybe one one of the crew?

Positively, I have a photograph of that page in the logbook and of a newscutting which refers to Nelson's bale out. So one of the crew was definitely 1680977 Sgt RHK Nelson RAFVR, I am suspicious that some of the chaps who later formed the crew of Steve Nunns at 630 Squadron were some of the others who baled out, Nelson had spent weeks in training with F/S Molloy the pilot.

    Gents

    Wellington BK258

I have the location as Staylittle, 7m NW of Llanidloes, Montgomeryshire; at the northern end of Lake Clywedog. This from the Cassini reference VJ345140, which translates to Ordnance Survey SN 136/890922.

ABS has the location as 7m NW of Llanidsoe (sic), Mont. Fallen Eagles (Doylrush) also reports the crash landing near Llanidloes.

Pete, you have the serial as '285', but your bale out location is in the right area.

    Regards

    Hi

The 16 ORU ORB only mentions Malloy not the other crew members
