2308 F/Sgt Sidney Ignatius OLIVER RAAF.
2308 F/Sgt (Clerk General) Sidney Ignatius OLIVER RAAF (of No.10 Squadron RAAF), was found lying on a roadway at Hooe, Plymouth, at approximately 0100 hours on 6 April, 1940. The accident was due to a fall in black-out conditions, and he died as a result of the accident on 12 April, 1940. He was on authorised night leave when on active service.
The Coroner determined the cause of death was from pneumonic meningitis following a fractured skull, caused accidentally.
F/Sgt Oliver RAAF is buried in Hooe (not Hope) (St. John) Churchyard Extension. Row 12. S. Grave 9, Plymouth.
F/Sgt Oliver's father, 1857 F/Lt Charles Oliver, was a long-serving (enlisted 7 September, 1925), member of the RAAF.
