    Default Ballon barrages over UK

    Hi all,

I would like to ask if there is any source for research of ballon barrages over British cities and industrial centres in period of first period 1941.

Any information or links to sources much appreciated.

    TIA

    Hi Pavel
It's not completely what you want, but there is a lot of information on http://www.bbrclub.org/Site%20Directory.htm and some of the links might take you still further

    Hi Pavel

Try TNA AIR 2/3173 "Accidents involving friendly aircraft and balloon cables". I'll send you some images from the file to give you an idea of what it contains. Though chiefly dealing with accidents, it does list the locations of balloons. I'll send you the images via e-mail.

    Default Balloon Barrages over UK

    Hello Pavel,

There use to be a balloon training establishment at RAF Chessington in Surrey just prior to the war. As a young lad I use to watch all of the manoeuvring, plus a ripping of a balloon in trees when they towed them to another field. We youngsters managed to get away with bits of balloons. My dad had enough to cover his mortorcycle combination!

The poor F/Sgt in charge only went back to Chessington with the vehicle and cable.
