1 AGS (India) was located at Bairagarh, Bhopal. The ORB states that "Wellington AD638 was ferried away" on 6.10.44 . I suspect 1 AGS(I) was only a transit stop and not the unit that held the aircraft.
Hello, Forumites
Does anybody have information on the circumstances surrounding the crash of Wellington AD638 on 9 October 1944 of the above Unit in India?
Many tia

Thank you Jagan.
According to the Air Britain files on the AD series of serials, and the RafWeb listing of 1AGS (I), AD638 was on the strength of that Unit. Seeing as the aircraft crashed on the 9th October, could it be that it was in transit, but still technically on 1AGS’s strength?
On further checking - that assumption is probably right. The ORB notes that Wellington AD638 "arrived" on 8/7/44 and no other mention till it was ferried out.

Thanks, again Jagan. I don’t suppose the ORB, either in the Summary or Record of Events, gives any names??

PS: Are the ORB’s of 1 AGS “on-line”?
Andy, the ORB does not really have any names especially regarding crews - mostly it is aircraft coming in and going out. 1 AGS only had two Wellingtons at any point in time and AD638 appears to be the second one. REally no info on what it was used for or how it was used.
