Not too many of them in AM Index to Airmen & Airwomen, TNA AIR 78/69, so rather taken aback to find that of the Hamlin and Hamling personnel listed, not a one was a K Hamlin or K Hamling. None.

Is a name error possible? There are three Hamblins K of which two are possible

    Kenneth Harold John Hamblin 2367426

Regret to advise neither Todd nor Sgt K Hamlin appear in either Summary of Events or Record of Events 108 Squadron Dec 1942
See TNA AIR 27/849/31 and 32

P/O VM Todd does appear several times in the Record of Events early to mid Nov 1942 but throughout the month only Pilots of aircraft are shown: no other crew listed.

The form of the OPs post title and request were a little unclear, however, the 40 Sqn ref was enough to suggest revisit the TNA Discovery catalogue
to open the 40 Squadron RAF Operations Record Book at AIR 27/412 for December 1942

The Record Of Events (Form 541) in AIR 27/412/59 shows that P/O Todd was on ops with 40 Squadron at Malta in at least the first week of the month, at a time when the 40 Sqn Adj Office also saw fit to record only Pilots of aircraft.

After 7 pages to end on a signed off month, the Form 541s begin again at 4 Dec, and this time include full crew entries for each aircraft.
On the night of 7/8 Dec 1942 P/O VM Todd does appear on ops in the crew of the S/Ldr (Morton?) (see page 10).
Throughout the rest of the F541 set to the last page, there is no mention of a Sgt Hamlin or any variant of.
At least, as far as my patience allows. There is one Sgt Hillman CD who appears several times

    40 Squadron ORB

    Form 541:

    3rd Dec., 1942 HX395 P/O Todd OPS Luqa-Catania- Luqa A/C exploded on landing. Hang-up

    Form 540:

One Wellington crashed on landing. Crew P/O Todd, (Capt), P/O Simmons, Sgts. Ward, Aspell and Semley. Sgts. Aspell and Semley were killed.

    or http://www.rafcommands.com/database/wardead/index

    Sgt. K. Hamlin isn't a member of the P/O Todd's crew.
