F/O A A WHITE 144471 RAFVR 201 Squadron 1943-1944

Identification of this officer is posing a bit difficult.

He is listed in the 201 Squadron appendices from January 1944 with the service number as shown.

Searches of the squadron ORB show he was posted in from 7 P.R.C. wef 07/09/1943 as a Pilot Officer.
The ORB for October 1943 shows him promoted from P/O to F/O wef 03/05/1943.
It is not clear what his trade was but most likely either a Pilot or a Navigator

There is no trace of him in the AFL 1943-1945
A search of the gazette only produces one entry from 1956

which refers to him as a F/Lt relinquishing his commission but retaining his rank. There are no other entries.

If anyone could assist with his first names I'd be very much obliged

The only reason I can think of as to why this man did not appear in either the London Gazette or Air Force List during the war is because he came from an occupied territory, possibly for instance the Channel Islands.

Air 78 and Forces War Records shows the following airmen as possible candidates

Albert Arthur White 1208515
Alfred Albert James White 1451400
Arthur Albert White 1406555
Arthur Alonza White 627066
Arthur Aloysius White 1338560

Any others either enlisted too late or can be ruled out as they too were commissioned.
Unfortunately this does take me too much further unless anyone else can assist.

Walters was supervising a new and inexperienced crew before they began operating on their own (Search, Find & Kill/Franks/Grub Street,1995/pp.169-70).

Based on Number I would expect him to be in 4th June 1943 London Gazette along with 144469, 144470, 144472 etc
