looking for confirmation

Hello,

Am looking for confirmation about a Rumanian pilot.

Pilot of Ju88D-1 Trip 430650 "1".
Which became RAF HK959, then FE-1598 USAAF. Now museum "105".

It has been said that following escape/desertion on 22nd July 1943 he joined the RAF . I assume in the middle east .
Name given as being NICCOLAE THEODORU.
What is known about any RAF or other Allied AF service of this airman ?

There is as Nicolae T(h)eodoru.

...It is unclear what happened to Nicolae Teodoru, however, an individual with that call appears in a CIA report on the postwar Romanian Air Force, dated April 1953. This document identifies the individual in question as commander of the 6th Bomber Regiment at Brasov Airfield, starting in 1949, and that the unit created with pilots who had “experience in various engines”. This might recommend that Teodoru eventually return to Romania and continue his career in the Communist-era Air Force. ...

So was he treated as a prisoner of war ?
Or
Was he able to join the Royal Air Force or other Allied air force during WW2 ?
