Default Rescued crew from the sea, 20th february 1944, RAF Towyn

    Hi all,
On 20th February 1944 Hawker Henley L3325 caught fire in th air and was ditched in the sea a few hundreds yards from shore, two miles south of the airfield RAF Towyn, its crew (pilot+winch operator) being picked up by launch. Im looking for information which ASR unit picked up the crew, if so.
    TIA

Neither launch or AS/R unit - they were picked up from the sea by a 2+1/2 ton army truck.

No.1 Amphibian Training Wing Royal Army Service Corp immediately sent three of their DUKWs from the seafront and rescued W/O Kania and LAC Gibson within 20 mins.

The same unit asked the next day for permission to salve the aircraft from the sea bed - this was given and they successfully brought the wreckage ashore and handed it over to No.34 MU.
