I don’t know where the impact location was for AD692, but to put a slightly modern up-to-date! That part of Sutherland, in WW2, was still suffering the previous Highland Clearances. Those of us (you?) who may have been on detachment to Durness to be involved in bombing the nearby Garvie Island Bombing Range will know how desolate, and uninhabited, much of that area actually is. One can drive for miles/hours without seeing another human being! Been there, done it – several times!
To come down (even in one piece and/or with injured) in the “middle of nowhere” must have quite appalling. And it’s not very warm up there in the middle of May! All I’m trying to do is just to “set the scene” for some of our statistics!!
