Hi

CHOPE, Christopher Augustine - He was serving with No 904 Sqn, and died in Guy's Hospital Southwark from injuries sustained in an air raid which hit his billet at 26 Highbury Grove, Islington.

Hi Malcolm,

Can you confirm the above? I found a link that suggests it was his brother, 845095 AC1 Arthur Valentine Chope, that was killed in an air raid at the address above. P/O Christopher Augustine Chope is stated to have "died in April last as a result of an illness contracted on active service."

The Western Times of November 22nd 1940 reported the following:

Seaton Parents' Second Bereavement
Mr. and Mrs. L. Chope, of 1, Fortfield, Seaton, have received official intimation that their eldest surviving son, Aircraftman Arthur Valentine Chope, age 31, has been killed in London. This is the second son Mr. and Mrs. Chope have lost during the war.
Their eldest son, Flying Officer Christopher Chope, died in April last as a result of an illness contracted on active service.

I've just checked the 904 ORB which confirms he died of natural causes.
