The grid reference you gave is eight-figure. The best I can convert is six-figure, so:

14594407 become 146441

The Northern European Zone 3 grid system has one relevant grid square covering Nordjylland - qO. Thus:

qO146441 = 57° 07' 48'' N, 10° 17' 25'' E (this is a location roughly 850 metres N.E. of Rørholt)

Hi Rod,

Thank you very much for taking the time with search and convert.

The case is about a reburial of unidentified remains of a British airman from an isolated grave, Koldmosen. (Koldmose is a remote area with peat bogs in Northern Jutland).

A final rest in grave 733B, Lemvig Chuchyard.

Hi Finn,

the translated coordinates I gave are on the same latitude as Koldmose Church, but still 45 kilometres away to the east. The translated coordinates assume the Northern European Zone 3 grid was used.

I had a look at a conversion of the next westward grid square of that zone - qN146441 - but that results in a location roughly 57 km WSW of Koldmose Church.

Perhaps a different grid was used for the map reference...

Thank you very much for the effort and time. My guess could be a typo on the sheet or a different grid referece. Koldmose is correct.

Hi Finn,

I forgot to point out that the first suspicious point about the grid reference you gave is that it is eight figures. Personally, I've never seen any such reference beyond six figures, since this is already highly accurate. On the off-chance, I looked at 14594407 and dropped the first two numerals, leaving 594407.

qN594407 = 57° 01' 33'' N, 09° 23' 51'' E (57.02578 °, 9.39764 °).
