UPGRADE to Frederick Bithell 1696431 attached to 55 Base, he was travelling in the rear of an RAF lorry from East Kirkby to Revensby whilst hitching a lift home for his birthday party. The driver swerved to avoid a van which pulled out of a side road right in front of him without stopping the RAF lorry hit the verge , overturning and throwing Bithell out causing him to land head first, dying instantly

UPGRADE to James Ewan 1368083, on 20th September 1941, he was hitchhiking to Dundee with two other airmen. A lorry approached as they were on north water bridge near Laurencekirk and Ewan stepped into the road to stop it. The lorry braked but skidded on the wet road and hit him, badly fracturing both his legs. He was conveyed to Strathcaro hospital where he died over two months later

    Hi Jon

Albert James McKee 1903009, I don't think he could have been flown home as he is buried in Tunisia and there is no death registration for him in Northern Ireland?

Re Mckee, thanks malcolm, youre right, thatnks for checking, never hesitate to, id read down a line and up a line in this case , the africa repatriation came from 1323723 Phillips who is right next too him in this book. I try triple check but if I'm doing a lot of things it's something I tend to do. Most grateful
