366128 W/O James (sometimes incorrectly referred to as 766128) was part of 263 Sqn's "1st Echelon" of the supporting ground party, and in charge of a convoy of equipment from Sjoveien to Bardufoss. He took his own life via his revolver at Setermoen and was buried at Bardufoss shortly after. He is recorded as 'Signals Section' and trade 'W.E.M' (Wireless Engineer Mechanic?) in my records.

In 1946, his grave was concentrated at Harstadt by 38 GRU, together with LACs Hurley and Jones who were KIA on 27 May 40 and also buried at Bardufoss.

P4893 is indeed what is says in TNA:
    http://discovery.nationalarchives.go...ls/r/C16471502
    http://discovery.nationalarchives.go...ls/r/C16471503

However, P4893 is not a valid serial. It was P6893, as listed by Warner.
It is easy to see how it happened, given that of the 12 aircraft from 82 Sqn on the raid, seven were P4838, P4851, P4852, P4854, P4898, P4903, P4904 (the other four were L8830, L8858, L9210, L9213)

P9213 is wrong, although listed as such at: http://discovery.nationalarchives.go...ls/r/C16471504
    P9213 was a Wellington. This was L9213.

There seems to be quite a bit to unpick with this one. According to AIR 27/222/2, L4796 of 16 Sqn was lost on this date with a crew of P/O White and P/O Hamilton
'Tac. R. Sortie in St. QUENTIN area. Aircraft did not return.'
    AIR 27/222/1:
17 May: P/O R.E.B. White and P/O Hamilton (Air Gunner) missing
    No mention of LAC O'Reilly.

(P/O Hamilton is 76906 P/O Leslie Montagu Hamilton, commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial)

There is an AIR 81 file that appears to conflate the loss above with the loss of L4804 the following day
AIR81/419 Corporal E T Baillie and Flying Officer T W Walker: missing presumed dead. Pilot Officer R E B White: injured; Lysander L4796 failed to return from a reconnaissance flight over France, 17 May 1940. C14502090

While I'm at it, the ORB also has F/O Walker and Cpl Baillie in L4804, not L4803 as shown on the other thread

There is a separate AIR 81 file for LAC O'Reilly

    AIR81/3006 Leading Aircraftman J P O'Reilly: killed; 16 Squadron, 50 HQ Wing, enemy action at Peronne, France, 17 May 1940. C16472325

Which to me implies that he may have been a ground casualty.

Best I can do without access to the AIR 81s themselves.

    Hope this helps,

    Jeff
