Hobbs was serving with No 3 Tactical Exercise Unit and died in RAF Hospital, Coford's burns unit after being badly injured in ‘an explosion of starter cartridges’ at Aston Down airfield.

I think we discussed Sgt. Small before. The aircraft came down near St Joseph d’Alma, 25 miles west of the airport at Bagotville. Sgt. Small was from Trinidad.

Churchill's death is reported in contemporary newspaper. He was swimming in the south bathing pool in Scarborough when he was swept out to sea. A local dentist, Mr. David B. Atkinson, swam out with a life line attached, and brought Churchill ashore but he was already dead.

Another report states that Churchill was swept out to sea while wave dodging.
