    CALLANDER, Edward - W/O- DFM - He was captuted on 6 May 1942 whilst flying in Wellington III, X3466 of No 115 Sqn, which came down near Laon during a raid on Stuttgart, he escaped from Stalag Luft VI on 5 Mar 1944 but was recaptured and taken to Mauthausen concentration camp, where he was executed, although the exact details and date are unknown.

    Regarding Edward Callendar DFM, Croix de Guerre, known as 'Ned', a book was published in 2008 called "Fighter! Fighter!" by John Brenan and Richard Frost, who have managed to access British MoD (via AHB) documents and also German and French documents.

    Phillip John Dewings 1267332 , attached to RAF Portreath , became seriously ill on 7 February and was admitted to Royal Cornwall hospital where he died of pleurisy
