    Default Unaccounted airmen - 11-2-1942

    What were the places of death registration for:

    LAC (Pilot u/t) Cuthberg E. DOUGLAS - 1079608, and
    LAC (Pilot u/t) Bernard N. RUSSELL - 1215316,
    both killed on active service.

    Proposed aircraft losses for this day:
    Beaufighter I - T4760 - 2 (C)OTU - crashed on landing Leconfield.
    Hurricane I - V6821 - 59 OTU - crashed in forced landing Bow Hill Farm, 4 miles N of Annan.
    Hurricane I - L1951 - 9 FTS - crashd on take-off Park Farm, Chipping Sodbury, Gloucestershire.
    Hurricane I - N2589 - 9 FTS - crashed in forced landing Keevil.
    Master II - W8785 - 5 (P)AFU - crashed on approach Leighton, Shropshire.
    Oxford II - W6620 - 6 FTS - flew into ground Cold Aston, 2 mile SW of Bourton-on-the-Water, Gloucestershire.
    Havoc I - BJ475 - FIU - overshot landing Tangmere.

    Hi Henk, Dick is correct regarding Douglass. He baled out too low and parachute failed to deploy after his aircraft caught fire striking HT cables on approach to RAF Atcham.

    Hi Henk,

    F1180 for W6620
    Pilot killed given as LAC J P Singleton 1030980.

    One other killed in the crash so Russell also

    Thanks Ross. SINGLETON died of wounds or injuries received on active service "12"-2-1942; death registered North Cotswold, Glos.

    James Maltman 1024929 and

    John Smith Scholes 984022 and

    F/Lt A G Douglas were crewing armored car A 116 when the unit came under attack from 10 Stukas escorted by 12 Me 109. The armored car received a direct hit and was set on fire, Maltman died instantly and Scholes of his wounds in hospital the next day after being rescued under fire by 524990 B W Smith and 631642 R C Griffin

    Clarence Douglas Shelton 1442606 , was reported missing during the fall of Singapore with an assumed date of death of 11 February although he was reported officially missing as late as 1 February 1943
