Thanks Henk, thanks to finding a burial register that only covers war graves in Newmarket and does have more than the usual detail, I found that Claude Watts died as a result of a road accident near Mildenhall
One thing, is there a definitive list of the ways of dying ie Killed in Action, Died of Wounds etc there seem to be different words used at times for the same man and I wondered how it is all sorted out officially?

    Message B

    Wounded
    Died of wounds or injuries
    Missing

    Message C

    Death
    Serious Illness

    Message D

    Injured acc.
    Killed acc.
    died of injuries acc.

Thanks Ross for info on Defiant and P/O J.A. McCAGUE. Sorry for the belated answer as I was admitted to hospital 3 Nov with severe intestinal flu and sent home 8 Nov still a bit weak after having been "on the drip" and missing the normal food. Now have to get rid of the back log on your excellent forum.
    Regards,
    Henk.
