Derrick Keith Tasman Ottley 1271496 , was a member of a training crew flying to India staging through Castel Benito. He was seen by members of his crew in the Airfield transit hotel ante room at 23:10 hours but failed to turn up in the morning. A search was instigated but no trace was found of him and this was extended to the road and RAF stations East and West of Castel Benito. Civil police patrols and SIB and CIB investigations proved fruitless

On 16th April the septic tank near the hotel was drained, revealing his body at the bottom

HE did NOT die in Liberator AL528 as stated in this forum
