    Hello

ROGERS, Phyllis Elizabeth - ACW1 - 475417 - an announcement in the Bury Free Press of July 8th 1944 records that she died at the W.S. [West Suffolk] General Hospital.

ROSS, James Miller - LAC - 111912 - the Chelmsford Chronicle of July 21st 1944 reported the inquest into his death. It records that his body was found in the Chelmsford - Blackwater Canal, Springfield. The inquest heard that he had been engaged and had "gone through a form of marriage" to a Chelmsford girl, Miss Joyce Evans. He had told her he was 33, not 43.
On June 26 he left home and did not return, and the following day a letter arrived which Miss Evans opened and found it signed "Your loving wife." A Flying Officer Russell testified that after Ross's "marriage" to Miss Evans, the question of an allowance arose, and it was found that he was already married. When questioned, Ross "had all the answers ready."
There was no evidence to suggest that Ross had committed suicide, even thouh he was "in a serious jam" and a verdict of "found drowned" was recorded.

    Regards

    Simon
