    Default Raymond J. Pettit

    Dear Henk (and others)

I just noticed your thread mentioning RAF pilot Raymond J. Pettit - he was my great uncle, and I am currently researching him as he left extensive diaries from the age of 18 until he died at just 22.

I wondered what your interest in Raymond was and whether, by any chance, you know more than I do - I'd love to find out anything else about him that I could.

Thank you in advance and hope to hear from you soon.

    Hannah,

It would be a good idea to let us know what you know and we will be able to fill in some of the gaps for you.

Do you have his service record? What training units and squadrons did he serve with? Who were his crew members?

    Regards,

    Nick

Hannah, Flt Sgt Raymond Pettit was my great uncle too (father's uncle). Dad gave me a copy of Flt Sgt Pettit's last diary with the last entry date of Sept 14th, 1943. My dad received this copy from other relatives he has in England. In addition, I have a photo of him and 152 Squadron when they were in Sicily.

If you get this, please email me.

PS - Hannah, just got off the phone with dad. He is in Rio visiting a friend now and doing fine. I guess he got the copy from you. Found out you are my 2nd cousin (your mom was his cousin)
