LAC Bird and Sgt Goodwin were both killed at RAF Hurn in Dorset on April 19, 1944, when one aircraft taxied into the tail of another at RAF, causing both men to be struck by the prop.


1425802 Aircraftman 1st Class Stanley Reginald HAMBLIN

The 181 Squadron ORB does not mention A1C Hamblin, whose death is registered in the same district and period and is described as dying 'as the result of injuries received on active service' on the same date by a story in the Rochdale Observer (29 April 1944). It seems likely that he was injured in the same incident and died later.
