    Default 430919 - Unaccounted airmen - 19-9-1943

    What were the places of death registration for:

    A - Died on active service:
    LAC Gwyn JONES - 1278621 - 295 Sqn (Hurn, Hampshire), and
    LAC Albert MOTT - 1010883.

    B - Not found in Flight Magazine:
    F/Sgt John H. MURPHY - 411356.

    C - Proposed aircraft losses:
    Mustang I - AP196 - 63 Sqn - crashed on take-off Hatton Mains Farm, Kirknewton.
    Oxford I - HM907 - 15 (P)AFU - crashed on take-off at night House Farm, Axford, Ramsbury, Wiltshire (already as a fatal casualty on this aircraft: AUS405052 F/Sgt R. FRITH - RAAF).
    Spitfire V.B - W3853 - 66 Sqn - crashed on take-off Perranporth.

    there is an Albert Mott, aged 29 in Thurso district, Caithness, in Scotland.

    From F1180

    Mustang I - AP196 - 63 Sqn - crashed on take-off Hatton Mains Farm, Kirknewton.
    Pilot P/O J Mills, 134111, imjured

    Oxford I - HM907 F/Sgt Firth was sole fatality

    I stumbled across this post when I was searching for details about my grandfather which is Clarence Neal whom you refer to. I'm wondering what your source is for this information and whether you know any more. Cheers

    Hello

    LAC Albert MOTT - 1010883 - the Rochdale Observer of Spetember 25th 1943 reported the following:

    L.A.C. Albert Mott
    The death took place on Saturday, following an accident whilst on active service in Scotland, of L.A.C. Albert Mott, 201 Market Street, Whitworth. Aged 29, Mr. Mott was employed at the Olive Mill, Bacup, prior to enlistment. He is survived by his widow. He has two brothers in the Forces. The funeral took place yestrday (Friday) at Healey Church burial ground.


    The Statutory Deaths Register on the Scotland's People website records that he died at Dunbar Hospital, Thurso, at around 10.50 p.m. on Saturday September 18th, due to head injuries sustained by a fall from a motor lorry.

    Gwyn Jones 1278621 , was dangerously injured in a road accident when he was hit by a vehicle on 14 September and was admitted to the Royal Victoria and West Hants hospital, Boscombe. He died there of a paralytic illeus following a splenectomy
