Rauceby Hospital came under Cranwell. It was (amongst other things) a Burns Unit (McIndoe and the Guinea Pig Club, etc). So it seems probable that your man was burned. Now whether this was the result of an air accident or a ground accident only the Death Cert will tell. Bear in mind that there was, at the same time, a civilian Mental Hospital on the same site. Could be tricky?!!

GOLASZEWSKI not mentioned in KU CZCI (Polish book on PAF aircraft losses). Perhaps Franek or Voytech may have an answer on what happened to this airman.

P/783087 Jerzy Marian Golaszewski was admitted dangerously ill to RAF hospital Rauceby on 22 July where he died of abdominal carcinomatosis and secondary carcinoma of the liver
