    Default 430612 - Unaccounted airmen - 12-6-1943

    What were the places of death registration for:

    A - Died on active service:
    AC2 Alderson FELLOWS - 1648177 - age 36 (buried in his hometown Huddersfield, Yorks.);
    LAC Ronald H. JONES - 1034283 - age 27, and
    AC1 Percy F. LAWRENCE - 1468817.

    B - Not found in Flight Global:
    AC1 John PHYPERS - 1611663 - 541 Sqn (Benson, Oxfordshire).

    C - Also looking for info on unit and possible cause of death of following airmen:
    Sjt Eric W. HALL - 5776905 - Glider Pilot Regt, 1st Wing - buried Le Petit Lac Cem., Oran, Algeria, and
    Cpl Robert J. KELLY - RCAF R/97218 - buried Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

    Fellows in in East Kilbride District of Lanark, Scotland

    Jones is registered where he is buried, Bowmore District, Argyll.

    Lawrence, Hendon district, Middlesex age 36

    Phypers, Ploughley district, Oxfordshire age 39
    I also cannot find Phypers in Flight or a reference date from the Times Archives

    Hall 2nd. Pilot (presumed as A S/Sgt also buried in the Cemetery on same date) in Horsa involved in operation Turkey Buzzard (towing from Portreath through Sale to Algeria for ops against Sicily). Don't have the Horsa no.

    Hello,

    AC1 John PHYPERS - 1611663 - 541 Sqn (Benson, Oxfordshire).

    12 June 1943 - RAF Station Benson.

    At 1340 hours Aircraftman 1st Class J. Phypers was found shot dead in the adjutant's office of 541 Squadron. Service and civil police are investigating.

    John Phypers, RAFVR, s/n 1611663, age 39, son of Alfred and Annie Phypers of Acton, Middlesex. Died on 12 June 1943 and is buried in Benson (St Helen) Churchyard Extension. An inquest into the death of Aircraftman Phypers was held on 16 June 1943 and the verdict was that he committed suicide by shooting himself with a Service revolver while the balance of his mind was disturbed.

    AC2 Alderson FELLOWS - 1648177 - the Statutory Deaths Register on the Scotland's People website records that he died at 4.00 a.m. at Hairmyres Hospital, due to carcinoma of the lung, from which he had been suffering for 3 months, and post-operative shock, 1 day.

    LAC Ronald H. JONES - 1034283 - the Liverpool Echo of June 25th 1943 carried the following report:

    Ronald Hyslop Jones, aged 27, husband of Mrs. Bernice Jones, of 14 Thingwall Hall Road, Liverpool 14, and only son of Mrs. A Jones, of 27 Lambton Road, Aigburth, attached to the R.A.F., has been drowned whilst on duty in Scotland.

    Cpl Robert J. KELLY - RCAF R/97218 died on 12 June 1943 in Christie Street Hospital, Toronto, cause ‘ subacute bacterial endocarditis’.(source: RCAF Service File)

    Robert Spicer 1529929 , attached to Number 22 PDC , was admitted unconcious to Number 1NZ General hospital suffering from a .38 revolver wound to the head on 6 June.. he was operated upon and the bullet removed. He developed paralysis on the right side of his face arm and leg and developed urinary and faecal incontinence and died of cereberal oedema
