Consolidated B-24 Liberator

Does anyone have details of Consolidated B-24 Liberator losses (or can point me to a source) ..... looking for one that crashed on (or around) 16th August 1943 in (or near) Front Canevese, Italy

Any help would be much appreciated

do you know it it was an USAAF B-24 or RAF Libeator at least? I suppose you are after RAF one as you have posted your question here but I want to be sure.

The simple answer to that question is no ..... what has happened is that someone in Italy has advised that a 35 Squadron Halifax crashed in their area on 16th August 1943 but is now suggesting that it was a Liberator, so I am trying to see if there was a Liberator that crashed in the area on (or around that day), or whether it is the 35 Squadron Halifax

That would make it Halifax II HR880? Mis-identified as a Liberator?

Simon; the article demonstrates the current confusion over this matter .... was the word Liberator used to describe a Liberator aircraft or the aircraft of a liberator ... and was the author sympathetic to the Allies or the Axis forces (bearing in mind it refers to terrorist bombers, I am assuming the latter, which suggests that it would not have been described as the aircraft of a liberator).

I am pretty sure that it was the 35 Squadron aircraft, but, as you know, in research, you must explore all angles before making any judgements
