    George Alexander CHEYNE - The Scotsman of March 27th 1947 reported the following:

    BANCHORY VICTIM OF CEYLON AIR CRASH
    The Air Ministry stated yesterday that Mr. G. H. Cheyne, announced by them on Thursday night as one of the passengers killed when a R.A.F. York aicraft crashed at Negombo, Ceylon, on Tuesday, was Mr. George Alexander Cheyne. His next-of-kin had been informed before the communiqué was issued.
    Mr. G. A. Cheyne (32), who resided at the Neuk, Banchory, Kincardineshire, left London on March 12 to take up a Colonial Office appointment as a factory surveyor at Singapore. He was surveyor for an insurance company in the North of Scotland before that.
    As reported on Thursday, 11 poeple - passenger and crew - were killed in the crash.


    Mr A. DEIGHTON - the East Kent Gazette of April 5th 1947 reported:

    SHEPPEY MAN IN AIR DISASTER
    Mr. Andrew Deighton, of Minster, Sheppey, was among the 11 people killed when a York aircraft crashed at negombo, Ceylon, on March 18th. Mr. Deighton was on a passage to Hong Kong Dockyard to take up and appointment as chargeman of motor drivers. Aged 36, he leaves a widow and two young children.

    Hello All,
    This is a bit of a "shot in the dark"!
    Is there a list, anywhere, of Avro Yorks (both civil and/or military) that have 'crashed', 'shortly after take-off', after they had been re-fuelled at an en-route stopover/staging-post. I simply wish to test any such list against an hypothesis of the cause(s).
