Default AM Form 1180 conclusion explanation needed

    Hi all,

I would like to ask for help with correct understanding of the conclusion written in the AM For 1180 in case of Czechoslovak crew incident - pls note the nationality is important:

"Bad aircrew manipulation hard to clarify owing to language difficulties in crew."

The first part is clear but I am not sure with the second one. Does it means:
    1) there was a language problem in the crew during the flight and it may have an influence on the incident
    or
    2) it was difficult to investigate the incident as some member(s) of the crew had problems with English?

    TIA

    Pavel

    Hi Pavel
Sounds like it's saying the second one. They worked out the basic cause, but couldn't find the further details behind that.

I would also agree that your second option seems the most likely.

Ian and Andy thank you for your opinios. I also bet for the second option, but for me - as not a native speaker - the phrase "in crew" is confusing as I would wrote myself "hard to clarify owing to language difficulties of the crew" as "in crew" evoke "among members of the crew" to me.

Pete, good point! I was checking this too - the important were pilots +Flight Engineers - there were two of them aboard.
Both pilots and one FE speaks Czech, the other FE Slovak and he was on his first operational sortie.
But Czech and Slovak are so close that normally we do not have a problem to understand each other.
