Thanks for the link. I read a USAF version and an RAF one covering all commands. A lot of it was dull reading but useful if you can get through the mathmatical jargon. I haven't checked the index (it is still downloading) but my main interest would be in simulated bombing.

i wondered how did you trip across this and have you searched for any more data in there? I've not looked on a computer yet, only on phone.

Every once in a while, I go to the site of the Canadian Journal of Military History:

    https://scholars.wlu.ca/cmh/

And there is a recent paper by Wakelam, and he provides a link to it:

    https://scholars.wlu.ca/cgi/viewcont...24&context=cmh

I read through parts of Dickens’s paper, but have read Wakelam’s book, which contains little math. Dicken’s paper contains the math and methods, I’m hoping so will spend some time with it.

I've not read the whole document as I doubt there is much of interest in most chapters to my speciality - meteorology - but Chap 8: Navigation (numbered page 143) is an absolute goldmine, especially the section dealing with the Wind Broadcast Scheme (page 158). While I had a rough idea on how the scheme worked I'll happily admit to my understanding being woolly. Consequently I found the WBCS section answering many of the questions I had. For me it helps greatly, thank you Jim.

Pointing to the substance and historical relevance of the linked document, rather than beating my own drum (it’s actually Wakelam’s contribution) I think this might be worthy of a “Sticky”.

    Jagan?
