    Default 'Armament Duties at Yate'

    Dear all,

I have found mention in the 1939 Special Duties List of an RAF Commissioned Armaments Officer listed as serving on 'Armament Duties at Yate.' A general search of the net suggests that his duties may have had something to do with Parnall Aircraft Limited, who were based at Yate (and managed an armament school there?).

Has anyone come across this before, or could suggest why an experienced RAF officer would be serving at this location, please?

    Many thanks in advance

    Jonny

    Hi Jonny

I have seen many references in ORBs to personnel being sent to Parnall Aircraft at Yate on Turret Courses, so he could have been attached as the RAF Liaison officer or an instructor

Thanks Malcolm. I'll have to obtain his SR, although I doubt it will state what function he performed at Yate.

    All the best

    Jonny
