Default Several RAF airmen photos available on ebay

There are several photos available on ebay of un-named airmen . Seems to have been taken after an op as names appear on the board behind in some pics. That could lead to which Squadron they belonged too. Then some may be identified.

Could well be wrong but at first glance they look like stills from a fiction film.

    Hi Alex

I was just referring to the set of around twelve that are very similar. The ops board looks quite odd vis the aircraft references.

On the date mentioned on the board (2.2.44) there was in fact little flying. 7 Mossies to Rheinhausen, 6 to Elberfield, 2 RCM, 5 Serrate and 50 Halifax mining in Kiel Bay.

Hope some film buff can identify the movie (If it is!)

(Just noticed that one of the pilots listed is the infamous Pilot Officer Prune !!!!!!)

    Cheers

    Mike

    Caveat Emptor!
The “Raspin” listed as a Navigator on the board in the background is – possibly – Richard Charles Raspin. B. Q3 1916, Reg Sculcoates (Hull). MMS Richmond. Cmd from 1112328 Flt Sgt into RAFVR GD Branch (141743). That might give some clues as to where the pic was possibly taken. I share Mike’s suspicions!!

Thanks for that link Alex.. based on that this is the Seller's view.. Nageit1 / Stuart Press

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/nageit1/m.html

Seems to be a Mosquito Squadron https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/D3AAA...oM/s-l1600.jpg
(note the "29" on the helmet)

    Aircrew Listing - Dated 2.2.1944 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/154485522...EAAOSwNb9gv4rQ

CO seems to be S/L Kirkland / F/O Raspin and they are a Mosquito Crew combination from 29 Sqdn ..who had a night fighter victory. (link)

    Bomber Operational Clasp
MIA 22/23 August, 1943 after being shot down during a night attack on Southeast England. The victor was a Mosquito of RAF No. 29 Sq., piloted by F/L C. Kirkland and P/O R.C. Raspin. The AC crashed into the sea 25 miles NE of Foreness Point, northeast of Margate, Kent. His R/O-Gunner, Fw Martin Kuefner, was also MIA.

Also explains this dark goggles here https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/154485523...sAAOSwlWNgv4sd

So its 29 Squadron.. Also confirmed by some of the names from the aircrew board appearing in the ORB http://discovery.nationalarchives.go...mageViewerLink

    Good catch, Jagan!

P/O Prune! LOL! Perhaps someone was having a lark for the event! I think this was some sort of a staged PR event.

I note one of the pilots was a “Lieutenant Armour” and under Navigator, “FIU”. Not sure whether Armour was USAAF or “French” Air Force. I do not know the meaning of FIU.
