Default Emergency / Alternate Static Source on British bombers?

Did British heavies like the Lancaster, Halifax, Sterling, Wellington, Sunderland etc have an emergency / alternate static source selector in case the static port was plugged during icing conditions? On some American types I know the alternate static selector source for the C-47 was ported inside the empennage while the B-17 source was plumbed to a different external static port near the rear wing to fuselage fairing.

    TIA

    Hi Chris,

Have checked through The Lancaster Manual, RAFM 1977, and can find no trace of anything like that, except on page 65 it gives Position Error Corrections with a separate table of corrections to be made if "the static vent connection has not been made".
There are no mentioned switches for doing anything like this either...........the B-17 has a changeover switch on the port pilots panel.

    cheers Peter

Apparently no mention of an alternative static source for the ASI system in the Sunderland V (AP 1566E-PN), but then, if the static vent blocked in some way, the ASI readings would probably be crazy enough that the captain would be aware something was radically wrong with it! Many types of aircraft had more than one ASI, perhaps some may have had separate independent systems? I think the B-24 Liberator had two pressure heads on forward fuselage, so presume separate systems, or did they share static source?
