Default 772001 William Theodor MALLING (155388) - anyone with info on this man?

Then Sgt William Theodor Malling (772001) was commissioned as Pilot Officer (emergency) on 11 September 1943 (LG 36267).

His NCO service number indicate that he enlisted in India, but my interest in him is two-fold. Firstly, he may be Danish or at least born in Denmark on 23 July 1910. Secondly, his NCO service number is between other enlisted men, who had trained at the EFTS in Singapore until a few days before the surrender.

He was confirmed in the appointment and promoted to Flying Officer (war subst.) on 11 March 1944 (LG 36447) and further to Flt Lt (war subst) on 11 March 1945 (LG 37286). He resigned his commission on 11 August 1946 (37700).

He is believed to be the same man as the W.T. Malling who was a manager for the (Danish) East Asiatic Company in Kuala Lumpur around 1955, and who in 1951 was a honorary flying instructor at the Kuala Lumpur Flying Club.

    Kind regards

    Mikkel

He's on a family tree on ancestry.com with the following details:

Born 23rd July 1910 at Longelse, Svendborg, Denmark
Died 23rd January 2004 at Cascais, Portugal

Not much, but all there is on ancestry.

    See also: http://www.hannet.dk/24760.html

which records that he was "secretary of the East Asian Company."

That is excellent! First of all it identifies the Malling in EAC as this man, and it gives the information that he was with the company before and after the war. The Danish text says that he was the god father of his sisters boy in 1935 and that he worked as a secretary for the company. I have since learned that he came to the Far East in 1936 to the company's office in Bangkok.
